BAHANDI Showcases Mindanao’s Creative Heritage Through Cultural Collaboration Mindanao’s Creative Expressions, launched on May 2, 2024, at the ERM Theatre, Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC) – General Santos, celebrated the rich artistic and cultural diversity of Mindanao. This cultural initiative was organized through the collaboration of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Cultural Exchange Department, CCP Kaisa sa Sining Mindanao, and RMMC MI (Marbel, Inc.), with the goal of preserving and promoting Mindanao’s vibrant creative identity. Integral to the event’s success were the Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAEd) students of RMMC, who actively participated as organizers, facilitators, and production staff. Under the mentorship of instructors Leonardo Rey “Bing” Cariño and D.J. Brylle Silao, the students applied their classroom knowledge in a real-world cultural setting, gaining hands-on experience in event management and production. The initiative aligned with the “Danas” experiential learning approach of the BCAEd program, which bridges theoretical learning and practical engagement in the cultural field. Through their involvement, students not only enhanced their skills in project coordination and creative management but also contributed significantly to the preservation and promotion of Mindanao’s cultural heritage. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 8, 9, 11, and 17, BAHANDI highlighted the vital connection between education, culture, and sustainable development. By fostering collaboration among cultural institutions, educators, and students, the event underscored the transformative role of arts education in nurturing future cultural advocates and promoting community enrichment.
